Thematic Unit: Globalization
Description:
The aim of this assignment is to make students incorporate primary Sources and documents to know more about the origin and development of globalization using a Mind Map and the most important historical "globalization" events using a TimeLine

Part one: Use of Primary Sources Documents
As you all know,  "Globalization" became such a persistent phenomena that shaped, shapes and will continue to shape  our life day after day. To know from where this term started and how it developed you will do (1) an activity that demonstrates the history of "globalization" by creating a Mind Map and also (2) another activity that depicts the important historical events related to globalization by creating a Time Line. In the following you will find the steps of the two activities:

1st Activity: A Mind Map for GLOBALIZATION
Hint: Before doing this activity, the teacher will explain to her students what Mind Map is and for which purposes it is used.
Steps of the 1st activity:
1. Go to
www.smartdraw.com to download the Mind Map program. You will have a free trial of one week.
2. Use the template you see suitable to demonstrate "the history of globalization". This is the central key word around which your words, ideas, headlines will be arranged.
"History of globalization" includes:
- When and where globalization started?
- Main supporters of globalization?
- Phases of globalization?

2nd Activity: A TimeLine of Globalization
For this activity you are required to create a timeline that depicts the important historical events related to globalization.
Steps of the second activity:
1.Use the following links to search for importanct historical events related to globaliztion:
BBC News
- New York Times
- CNN Interactive 
2. Go to www.dipity.com to create your timeline.
3. Log in or sign up if you don't have an account.
4. Start creating your timeline. When creating your timeline, you should use as many sources as possible such as pictures, videos, links.Your timeline should contain 10 events at least.
5. When finishing the timeline, you should publish it to share with us. You should send us the link for your timeline.


Part two: Use of Google Maps
In this activity you will choose 5 important historical events from your timeline to locate by using Google Map.
Steps of this activity:
1.
If you do not have a Google account, sign in at   www.google.com to create on.
2. Select the Maps link
3. Go to "My Maps" and create a new map
4. Locate the places of the five important historical events you chose from your timeline
