Social Networking for my thematic unit "Globalization"

n the following you will find the steps I will follow when creating a social networking for girls of  the 11th grade  at the German School of Alexandria:

Step #1: Finding ePals for my students:
1. Create a teacher account in ePals.
2. Post the following message in the "teacher" forum:
"My students are in grade 11. Their native language is Arabic. German is their first foreign language. This year we will study "globalization". We want to collaborate for 4weeks with classes from Germany on a project about:
- What is globalization?
- What are the ramifications of globalization?
If you are interested, please send an e-mail to [email protected] .

Step #2:
Objective: Students will know what globalization is from many points of view.
Steps:
1. Students will create an account at Flickr.com to log in with their yahoo accounts. Students with no yahoo acounts will have to create first an account at yahoo.com
2. When logging in, students will search the group Define "globalization".
3. Students will chat together about: What is globalization? and What are the ramifications of globalization?
4. Students will support their point of view using weblinks, videos or photos.
5. Students will state the reason for their choice and give a description to it.
6. Students have to comment at least two posts of the other classmates.

Step #3:
Objective: Students will know how much our life is affected by globalization.
Steps:
1. Students will create an account at facebook.com to log in
2. Students will find the group "Global Life"
3. In this group they will find the following question:
              What fields  in our life are affected by globalization?
4. After chatting  with each other, students will come up with concrete fields.
6. The teacher will create the number of groups according to the number of suggested fields.
7. Members of the groups will be created by the students according to their preferences.
8. Every group will chat together using Skype.
9. Each group should announce the name of the member of the group and the time of chatting under the chosen field.

Step 3#
Objective: Students can visualize the effect of globalization on our life
Activity:
1. Students will create an account in edmodo.com to log in.

Directions:
1. The teacher will need to create topic groups on Edmodo.
2. Once a group is created the teacher will be given an access code. The access colde of this group is mlz202.
3. In case of having problem with joining, students can use this guide
3. When creating an account on Edmodo, students will have to give the access code sent by the teacher to join the group "Global Presentation".
4. Students will post their  multimedia presentation to visualize what effect has globalization of the field they chose.
4. Students will comment at least two presentations of other classmates.
